Monrovia Providers Group hosts “Summer Breeze” and 2nd “Care Café”

Monrovia, California – July 30, 2014 – The second quarter of 2014 saw the Monrovia Providers Group (MPG) hosting two unique events for the benefit of our local seniors:

Our “Summer Breeze” fundraiser, held Friday, July 11th, at sunset, in Westminster Gardens’ charming courtyard was very successful according to MPG’s Treasurer, Pattie Tellez.

Supporters enjoyed a special cocktail created for the event as they dined on delicious BBQ generously donated by Stonefire Grill, Pasadena; and decadent brownies from Red Carpet Cookies while listening to the soft music of “The Groove” as the sun set on a perfect Summer evening.

MPG’s second “Care Café” for local, at-home seniors and their “Care Partners” (spouse, adult child, friend or paid caregiver), was again a gratefully-received success on June 26th at the Monrovia Community Center.

Care Café, which was billed as “a morning of fun & relaxation for all” allowed participants to choose two of the three offered sessions:  “Name That Timeless Tune” presented by New Wave Home Care; “Reminiscence Workshop”, facilitated by Santa Anita Family Service; and “Chair Yoga”, taught by Start Where You Are Yoga.

All sessions were offered by MPG members, with volunteer caregivers, also from member agencies, on hand to lend additional care support so guests could truly relax.

Photographer, Cindy York, recorded delighted participants as they relaxed to the popular mini-massages and mini-manicures donated by Philip Mitchell and Merri Frew.

Generous Monrovia sponsors, Rudy’s Mexican Food and Rivanis Baking Company, again provided a delicious hot lunch and plenty of sweet treats to top off our day of relaxation.

The final 2014 Care Café will again be held at the Monrovia Community Center, 119 W. Palm Ave., on Thursday, September 18th, from 9:30 am to 1 pm.

Please RSVP to Rebecca at: 626-256-8232.  A donation of $5 will be appreciated.
